GETTING TO KNOW RHONDA

AMERICAN, ROMANTIC, IMPRESSIONIST ARTIST: HOME IS :CALIFORINIA, SANTA FE, TEXAS, and THE SOUTH

It is with great pride that I begin  by stating that I am an AIR FORCE "BRAT"!   Being an Air Force child we traveled from our birthplace of Kentucky to Germany, New Hampshire, California, and Alabama and that was  how the first 18 years of my life was spent. Since then I lived in Texas for 17 years before marrying Ron and then off we went to explore the rest of the world! That was in 1995!   WOW!  I think I am finally getting old-er!!

Secondly, I TRULY LOVE TO PAINT!   And painting with oil paint is my passion.   I tend to see the world through the eyes of a romantic and an impressionist.    My inspiration is based on places which are a combination of reality (places I've traveled to) and imagination.  It seems with every painting there is a lesson learned. 

I still recall and treasure the life changing first brush stroke I made with oil paint over 17 years ago as a fledgling artist.    Landscapes and seascapes always were and continue to be my primary subject matter because of  my unending fascination and enjoyment of the shapes and colors of nature. While studying my paintings you will notice soft gentle touches,  bold dashes with the palette knife, and a variety of surface textures.   I am not shy or fearful of colors or painting to set a mood!  Whether painting the frigidness of a snow scene, the vastness of the southwestern canyons or the fun of a vase of daisies I remain captivated and challenged to excel to the next level of artistic achievement.   

Having discussed the expressive and artistic side of oil painting  now may I also state that I am a professional artist dedicated to oil painting.  I have devoted years of my life to the  pursuit of my artistic development.   Primarily I use Windsor and Newton professional grade oil paints.   The paints are placed  upon linen and also cotton canvas supports.  I continue to expand my professional growth by completing art business courses and by attending art workshops.  I am a member of Oil Painters of America and American Impressionist Society.
I have studied and painted throughout the United States, England, France, Mexico and Spain.

My paintings are exhibited in the Santa Fe West Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico , the Seven Sisters Gallery in Morro Bay, California and are in numerous private collections in the United States and France. 

My loving and supportive husband, Ron, and I along with our beloved cat, Georgia, live in California.  Ron and I travel throughout the United States, Europe, and Mexico.  Our favorite journey is the one we are planning.
